For as good of a player as Caron Butler has been, he sure has moved around a lot. Butler has been on eight teams in his 13 years in the NBA, and he’s about to make the Sacramento Kings his ninth, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Butler began his career with the Heat, and has played for the Lakers, Wizards, Mavericks, Clippers, Bucks, Thunder and, most recently, the Pistons. Butler steps into a reserve role with the Kings, playing behind Rudy Gay and likely Omri Casspi, who recently re-signed with the team. This doesn’t really move the needle for the Kings, as far as improving their team, but it’s not a bad deal. While Butler may not be a starter anymore (though he did start 21 games for the Pistons last year), he still provides shooting and valuable wing depth. After a terribly rocky start to the offseason – first with the George Karl/DeMarcus Cousins/everyone-hates-everyone fiasco, then their inability to sign a marquee free agent – the Kings have bounced back nicely with a decent free agent haul.
