Multiple outlets are reporting that Lamar Odom is being treated for a drug overdose.
Witnesses at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas told TMZ that the former Los Angeles Lakers star has crack cocaine in his system and visible track marks on his arms.
The witnesses tell TMZ … doctors have determined the former NBA star had cocaine and opiates in his system — but it’s still unclear if the track marks are fresh or from previous drug use.
We’re told doctors have told people close to Lamar the fluid they found in his lungs was the result of crack cocaine use.
E! confirms the account that multiple drugs were found in Odom’s body, and reports that his unresponsive nature is due to a lack of oxygen flow to the brain and a possible stroke.
A source inside Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas tells us that “drugs were found in his system,” and doctors are treating the situation as an “overdose.” Lamar remains unconscious and on a ventilator but is still alive. It also appears that the former Los Angeles Lakers player suffered from a “loss of oxygen but also possible stroke.”
“So, likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much,” the source adds. “Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system.”
Odom was hospitalized on Tuesday evening after being found unconscious at a brothel 80 miles outside of Las Vegas. Kobe Bryant left the Lakers’ nearby exhibition game early to visit his former teammate at Sunrise, and countless other players have offered their support to the 2011 Sixth Man of the Year on social media.
We’ll keep you updated on news of Odom’s condition as it becomes available.
