The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the NBA’s best defensive teams this season, which has surprised many considering their trio of stars are best known for their offensive firepower.
However, the duo of Paul George and Andre Roberson make for one of the league’s best defensive presences on the wing and, coupled with Steven Adams anchoring things by the rim, those three have been the driving force behind the team’s fifth-ranked defense. On Saturday evening, though, Roberson appeared to suffer a severe left leg injury when he slipped on his way up for an alley-oop against the Detroit Pistons.

While Roberson falls hard, his left leg being heavily wrapped seems to indicate the injury happened on the initial slip, and you can see his leg twist on his way up on this alternate angle. After, Roberson slid himself off the court clearly in severe pain.

The medical staff brought out a stretcher for Roberson as his teammates came over to offer support, and you can see how dejected he is leaving the court.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the preliminary diagnosis is a ruptured patellar tendon (the same injury that ended Jeremy Lin’s season), although there is still an MRI to come.
