Myles Turner Comes Clean And Says He’ll Slide Into Your DMs ‘Headfirst’

Myles Turner had a breakout rookie season with the Indiana Pacers, becoming arguably their best big man by the end of the 2015-16 season and making Ian Mahinmi (now a Washington Wizard) expendable. Little did we know that he was also — pause for dramatic effect — sliding into DMs all the while.

When asked about his social media etiquette on the ESPY’s red carpet, Turner said that he not only enters direct messages at times, but that he does so “headfirst.” Personally, I believe someone standing 6-foot-11 should not dive into anything headfirst; that sounds very dangerous.

Turner cites “thirst” as his motivator for making said slides, and we can only assume that he is speaking literally, not euphemistically, and that Sprite is getting a lot of attention from the 20-year-old on Twitter.

For real, though: It’s good to see the man being honest. From the millionaire athlete to the egg-avatar troll, the risk-it-all plunge into another user’s DMs is a great emotional leveler on social media. We’ve all got to do it, sometimes.

Turner goes into next season sharing center duties with veteran pickup Al Jefferson, who became accustomed to killing teams as a reserve with the Charlotte Hornets last season. As such, it seems likely that Turner will kick off his sophomore season as a starter, head battered from DM slides and all.
