Nintendo recently announced a female Link, with the baffling name Linkle, for the upcoming 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors. The main question was how, exactly, would Linkle fight? Turns out the answer is “by dual-wielding crossbows.”
The action above is fairly typical of Hyrule Warriors, a game similar to the over-the-top brawler Dynasty Warriors, wherein, well, you pretty much destroy giant groups of enemies in as creative a way as you possibly can before moving on to the next giant pile of enemies. It’s not the most intellectual gaming experience, but it’s absurdly entertaining, and Linkle appears to have plenty of crowd control attacks that keep the game moving. She also appears to have pioneered the self-reloading crossbow and infinite arrow technology.
You’ll be able to try Linkle’s fighting style for yourself March 25 in the U.S., and you’ll be able to transfer her to the Wii U if you happen to own a copy of Hyrule Warriors for that console. That said, though, really what the West wants is to beat the hell out of Tingle, Nintendo. Come on, we spent an entire game dealing with that creepy guy trying to drop “tingle bombs” during Wind Waker, surely some vengeance is in order.
