2016 is a big year for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans. The heroes in a half shell have a new movie coming out in a couple weeks, and today marks the release of their new game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan. Most recent Ninja Turtles games have been pretty rotten, but this one is developed by Platinum Games (the folks behind Bayonetta and Transformers: Devastation), and it definitely looks to have a lot more personality and swagger than your typical licensed action game.
The launch trailer for Mutants in Manhattan certainly packs in a lot of tubular stuff. A chainsaw-wielding Bebop! Armies of giant robots! The Turtles walking around with weird mechanical legs! A giant, powered-up version of Krang! It also contains a dated “All your base are belong to us” joke, but hey, I imagine it’s hard to keep up with the latest memes when you’re living with an old rat man in the sewers.
Some early fan impressions have indicated that Mutants in Manhattan might be a bit on the short/rushed side, but more reliable impressions remain few and far between. If you’re on the fence, we’ll have a full review of the game later this week. Until then, stay cool, but rude, friends.
