We know, Independence Day was an incredibly complicated movie with a convoluted plot. Fortunately, the sequel has streamlined things considerably, as we see in the official plot summary.
The really short version? The aliens are back, but we’ve got their technology this time. Cue the explosions!
After “Independence Day” redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
Let’s face it: We’re all going to this movie to watch fighter jets with lasers blow the hell out of flying saucers. We’re a little surprised that the official plot summary isn’t just SWOOOOOSH PEW PEW PEW BOOOOOOOM! for 150 words. But we guess they can’t reveal dialogue before the first trailer comes out.
