Well, that didn’t take very long. Less than a month after he dropped More Life, Drake’s latest project has already managed to surpass a billion streams. That billion with a “B.” According to Billboard, who monitors the Nielsen ratings, is reporting that the 22-track “playlist” has racked up a staggering 1.07 billion streams total.
No one should be surprised by this result really. More than any other artist out there, Drake has managed to nail down the perfect strategy for racking up the biggest streaming numbers out there. The high number of songs he throws into his project almost certainly helps drive the numbers, but they wouldn’t mean anything if there weren’t hits included, and Drake knows how to create those.
More Life becomes the 6 God’s third consecutive project to surpass the one billion streaming number. The first was If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, followed by Views, which still holds the all-time streaming record at 3.48 billion to-date. More Life has a long way to go before it can enter that kind of stratosphere, but three weeks in, it’s made some significant headway, topping the charts every week since it’s been out. We’ll have to see if that trend can continue however in the face of Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN. which debuts this Friday.
