Much like Trick Daddy, E-40 love the kids.
School’s in for fall and that means it’s time to strap on backpacks, scrounge up some lunch money, and get ready for plenty of books and teacher’s dirty looks. Also stack up on pens and pencils assuming that’s something kids still use in school what with technology leaving the pen industry in shambles. E-40 is doing his part to help students get ready for the new year by donating $25,000 in school supplies to his old middle school, Franklin Middle, in Vallejo, California.
“School is everything,” said E-40 to local news KTVU. “These ain’t just regular backpacks. These ain’t $.99 backpacks. These is Jansport, one of the top ones and it’s a lifetime guarantee on them so they can take them all the way till they graduate.”
Let the record show that the man donated Jansport.
“I come from Magazine St., right here in Vallejo. I never left. I don’t actually rest my head in Vallejo no more, but I’m here.”
It’s a great look when an artists gives to any school, but especially one that they went to and helped put them where they are today. Rappers are the new community leaders and role models, whether they want to be or not. With that said, 40 had a message for every child finding themselves back in a classroom as the calendar flips to September.
“Stay in school, stay positive, stay out of trouble, and stay prayed up.”
The words might be cliche, but that doesn’t make them less true or less important.
