Say what you want about Lil Yachty — and many of you have, repeatedly — but at least he’s consistent. The teen rapper caught a lot of flak for saying that he couldn’t name five songs by Tupac and Notorious B.I.G., but that hasn’t caused him to back down from his opinion one bit. In a new episode of Pitchfork’s Over/Under, Yachty called the late Brooklyn legend overrated.
While Yachty’s associate The Good Perry gives the excuse that he never really had a chance to listen to Biggie — saying that he “grew up very sheltered” and only heard the songs “in movies and stuff” — Yachty steers into the hate that he knows he’s going to get. The “Broccoli” rapper takes off his sunglasses, stares directly into the camera and repeats that he thinks “Juicy” and everything after is overrated.
Rap legends weren’t the only things discussed in the new video. Yachty also thinks that taxes and fake IDs are overrated, the latter of which isn’t surprising because Lil Boat famously doesn’t drink. He also revealed that he’s a fan of 50 Shades of Grey and Tom Hanks.
Of course, if all of these opinions bother you, just go the Lil Wayne route and just forget who Yachty is.
