Vince Staples is the latest artist tapped by Converse to design a few pairs of the classic Chuck Taylor 70 shoes. The collaboration comes as a part of a series to showcase Los Angeles artists, which also features designs from Dr. Woo, Born x Raised, Babylon, RSVP Gallery, Clot, and Rokit Staples.
The collaborative shoes are slated for release on January 25th, and to celebrate, Staples posted a picture of two pairs of Big Fish Theory themed shoes on his Instagram with the caption, “Don’t tap the glass.”

The Chuck 70 Hi design is a black shoe with orange accents priced at $110, while the Chuck 70 Ox is an orange shoe with black accents priced at $100. Both shoes feature pieces of the Big Fish Theory artwork on the outsole. “The story of the Chuck Taylor is accessibility and culture,” Staples said in a statement. “If you’re not really paying that much attention, you won’t know the difference. But it’s (the Chuck) something that a lot of people use to be able to assimilate into any room they’re going into – every type of person.”
With the Converse shoes, Staples follows in the footsteps of his friend and upcoming tour mate Tyler, The Creator, whose beautiful, eccentric Golf Le Fleur launch took over the internet last summer. The duo are set to hit the road together in just a few weeks. Find all the dates here, and check out our argument for Big Fish Theory as a blueprint for the future of rap.
