Either you love theme parks or you hate them, and if your opinion is the latter, then Dismaland is the theme park just for you! While it’s already been open to the public, Banksy’s sprawling art exhibit-slash-theme park-slash-anti-commercialism statement has been facing a few flaws that have been preventing potential guests from paying a visit (though it kinda feels like it’s all intentional, illustrating the very hassles Banksy is mocking, but that’s just a theory). Fortunately, there are plenty of images to be viewed on Instagram; the attractions are the efforts of over 50 different artists.
But don’t forget that this needs to be a full-on parody of a theme park. Enter: the trailer. Filmed like a TV commercial for other globally popular theme parks, the Dismaland trailer is also a quick peek into Banksy’s miserable masterpiece. Even as a die-hard Disney fan, I have to admit that this place looks like a depressing blast. I’m a little sad that I can’t go because I would have loved a T-shirt. As against the whole message that would be.
Bless the family in this trailer. They seem way more functional and honest than the family in Escape From Tomorrow.
