The Dream Of The ’90s Is Alive! Baskin Robbins Launches Sour Patch Kids Ice Cream

Baskin Robbins announced that among April’s Flavors of the Month is “Sour Patch Kids Redberry Blast.” The sweet treat is made with red raspberry and marshmallow ice creams which are swirled with a Redberry Sour Patch Kids ribbon. Baskin Robbins will also offer the new flavor in a sundae with marshmallow toppings, whipped cream and tons of Sour Patch Kids gummies. So…eating copious amounts of sugar is still popular, in case you were curious.

Not to sound overly critical, but this is all a little misguided. As a nightly ice cream consumer and huge SPK fan, Baskin Robbins’ new flavor sounds nauseating. Half the reason people love and continue to buy Sour Patch Kids is because they’re wonderfully sour. There’s something wrong with combining sour and marshmallows. You don’t see anyone crushing up Warheads and sprinkling them inside a s’mores, do you?

We will say this, at least Baskin Robbins chose to utilize the most delicious of the traditional Sour Patch Kid flavors. Although, we’re reluctant to give them too much credit because it seems like an obvious choice… no one wants to eat citrus candy ice cream.

Sour Patch Kids Redberry Blast ice cream was announced just in time for spring and will only be available through April at participating locations. Other flavors debuting in April include Baseball Nut (for the start of nut season), Cotton Candy, Dulce de Leche, and Strawberry Shortcake.
