Think nothing good ever happens on a Tuesday? Think again, friend! Today (that’s Tuesday, March 15th) Dairy Queen is giving away free ice cream to anyone who wanders into one of their many (non-mall) locations and demands a frozen dessert on the house. Or, you know, asks for one politely. It’s free, so you should maybe be nice about it.
There are, of course, several catches to your free ice cream enjoyment. One, the cones are small and vanilla (which is fine); two, the location has to be a free-standing Dairy Queen that’s not housed in a mall food court; three, once you’ve asked for your free cone, you’ll be asked to leave a donation for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. While refusing such a donation may be easy on a day you’re paying for your cone, it might be slightly more difficult as you’re slurping on one that you received for free.
Just one more thing: No more than one cone per person. So if you want more, you’d better think about hitting every Dairy Queen in your area or putting together several disguises to make sure that the employees at the one DQ in your town don’t suspect that the conquistador asking for their cone in heavily accented english and the business-woman who asked for one only ten minutes ago aren’t the same person.
According to AL.Com, the chain served more than 1,000 cones per store last year and raised more than $140,000 for charity, which is pretty good for a Tuesday in March (especially in places where it’s still freezing).
