Dr. P.K. Mahanandia’s legendary bicycle ride from New Dehli to Gothenburg to see the love of his life is currently going viral decades after it originally went down.
In the 1970s, the cute couple you see in the picture above found themselves separated by over 3,600 miles. Mahanandia missed his wife Charlotte Von Sledvin so much while finishing his studies in India that he gave up everything, got on a second-hand bike, and made the arduous trek all the way to Sweden to see the love of his life. It was a grueling journey of nearly five months, but Mahanandia was successfully reunited with his wife.
Naturally, the sweethearted story has seemed to enchant every true romantic that comes across it. Mahanandia’s tale has been told in many ways in many formats, but a recent Facebook post from Satyanarayan Patri about this romantic journey has blown up online.
Patri’s retelling of this epic love story outlines the struggles Mahanandia went through to achieve his goal and the happy ending waiting on the other side. Facebook users have fallen head over heels for this story and Patri’s spotlight on the love story has blown up to over 93,000 likes and 69,000 shares since springing up on Thursday.
Go ahead. Drop that tough exterior and give this story a tiny slice of your time. No cycling required.
