Growing up as a fan of Star Wars most likely means that at some point you’ve stopped and wondered what it would be like to hang out in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Would the band be playing on their crazy instruments, would you be able to hire a ship to smuggle you away from your mundane life, or would someone try to chop your arm off? These are all valid questions and possibly even cool daydreams to have, but if you live in the Los Angeles area, you might be able to experience something kind of like it.
Kind of.
According to Variety, a new pop-up will be opening up “this winter” in the Hollywood area — called Scum & Villainy — that is inspired by the classic Star Wars bar, the Mos Eisley Cantina. Nothing about this exactly screams official considering there is no Star Wars logo or direct mention of Star Wars anywhere, just a lot of winks, nods, and familiar imagery.
“The Scum and Villainy Cantina is nestled less than 12 parsecs away, in the wretched hive of Hollywood, CA. This temporary pop-up experience transports you into a fully immersive environment where you drink, eat, and hang out as if you were in a galaxy far away. If you’ve got the credits, we’ll serve your kind here… just make sure to leave your droids at home. Costumes encouraged.”
See? Nothing about this screams “Disney said this was okay,” but I’m sure that won’t get in the way, right? Since this isn’t officially branded or anything, who wants to be that person that walks into the cantina dressed up like a Klingon, slam down their bat’leth and demand bloodwine? That’d raise some eyebrows, that’s for sure.
They’ll be open for reservations soon, as well as walk-ins past 11pm. Reservations will earn you a Scum & Villainy-branded shot glass and a coin.
