This video of adventurer and animal expert Coyote Peterson’s encounter with a young ocelot might just turn you into a cat person. In the episode, part of a YouTube series called Brave Wilderness, Coyote explains that he and a crew were out “night herping” or in layman’s terms, searching for amphibians and reptiles. As they made their way through Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula, Coyote and the crew came upon the cutest, most playful wild ocelot you’ll ever have the pleasure of witnessing.
Talk about winning the oceLOTTERY!
The ocelot is less than a year old and according to Coyote she probably weighs about 25 pounds. She has the most perfect spotted fur, even more pristine than your grandma’s stair runner and every once in a while her tongue lolls to the side of her mouth like an exhausted puppy. She punches Coyote in the face, nibbles on his ear and attacks the camera’s microphone at one point. She is the perfect companion, for now.
Coyote is very careful to point out that this baby Ocelot is not yet full grown. A fully grown ocelot is more likely to be dangerous and their sharp nails, quick attacks, and sharp teeth should not be taken lightly. In the video, you can already tell how badly the baby ocelot wants to get at Coyote’s jugular. You can also tell how badly she wishes Coyote wasn’t wearing that ridiculous hat! We hear ya, baby girl!
