Looking at the box office, it’s not hard to see who Fox’s new favorite mutant is. Deadpool’s massive $750 million gross next to X-Men: Apocalypse‘s good-but-not-great showing means we’re going to see a lot more of the Merc with a Mouth, and a lot more actors who want to work with him. That number includes, it turns out, the actor people have loved the most from the last two X-Men movies, Evan Peters.
Peters plays Quicksilver, and in an interview with The Wrap, he reveals it’s unlikely we’ll ever see a Quicksilver solo movie just because his powers are so hard to film:
Oh my god, I don’t know. It would take three years to shoot, wouldn’t it? Yeah I don’t know, I would love to do that.
Each sequence is so heavily planned and so effects-heavy it takes weeks to shoot. But hey, that means he can show up in any movie he feels like, and Peters thinks Deadpool would be a good fit.
He has a point. Quicksilver’s scenes go over so well because they’re immaculately choreographed, witty action sequences, which is more or less also Deadpool’s specialty as well. After all, the movie’s very credits are a complicated weaving shot that explore the role of wedgies in taking out your foe’s henchmen set to soft rock. We can see the two of them hitting it off, although in the current timeline, Quicksilver is going to be in his fifties by the time he can meet Deadpool. Of course, with Cable coming, that does add the element of time travel, so maybe Quicksilver and Deadpool can buddy up more easily than we think.
