Some Rain And A Few Non-Medical Roaches Could Crash The Oscars Tonight

The Academy Awards wouldn’t be a typical massive gathering of beautiful people without three necessary features:

  1. Copious amounts of back-patting.
  2. Inclement weather.
  3. Drugs. Lots and lots of drugs.

The first is a given, but what about #2 and #3? Considering the ceremony’s location and the rather interesting coke-snorting Oscar statue displayed on Hollywood Boulevard this week, most will assume sunny California will take care of both. But early predictions suggested a 30% chance of rain during the red carpet, which is why THR reported organizers would make covered tents available to arrivals at the awards show and the ensuing Governors Ball.

As for the drugs, “roaches” is the word — but not of the medically-available kind most are thinking. Instead, TMZ suggested literal cockroaches of the GET-IT-OFF-GET-IT-OFF variety were present in the Dolby Theater, where the 2015 Oscars are being held. Footage suggested as much, but health officials claimed otherwise:

Health Department Manager Charlene Contreras tells TMZ they sent 2 inspectors to the theater late Thursday afternoon….She says no roaches or flies turned up.

Contreras says the critters in the video may have set up camp in areas that are unused between events.

So if you’re at the Oscars right now, and you feel a slight tingling sensation in your feet or on your legs, it’s probably just the drugs kicking in. However, if you didn’t take any drugs, then you might as well start screaming. Who knows? You might get an Emmy nomination in the process.
