Zack Snyder Teases Lex Luthor And Doomsday’s Purposes In ‘Batman V. Superman’

It’s exactly two months until one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year, and the clips and teasers about all the action are coming at wild pace. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has given fans all they could possibly ask for in the way of fresh footage, sneak peaks at the action, and hints about what characters will be playing what roles and whose side they will be on for the big showdown. There has been plenty of talk about what the two titular heroes will be up to in the film, but not as much about the villains, namely Doomsday and Lex Luthor that will serve as their main foes throughout.

Now, director Zack Snyder has decided to spill a bit about the two main villains of the film to explain what their roles will be in all the death and destruction that’s headed Gotham City’s way. According to the print edition of Empire Magazine via ComicBookMovie.com:

“To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe’s most iconic and powerful villains. He is essentially an unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film.”

A real threat, eh? As happens all too often in superhero movies, the villain is only a major problem until the central team figures out how the big bad’s one weakness and exploit it to gain the upper hand. With any luck, Snyder’s insistence on Doomsday being an unstoppable force might actually mean that The Trinity has to do far more than use their cleverness and little gumption to bring him down. Legitimate answers won’t come until the movie drops on March 25th, so it will be left to fans to parse Snyder’s comments for a more definitive answer until that day comes.
