News broke Thursday night that Scott Weiland, the one-time frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away. The singer, who was found unresponsive on his tour bus in Minnesota for a show with his band The Wildabouts, was 48 years old. The news has come as somewhat of a shock, if only because stories of his substance abuse had started to subside as of late. However, the years of drug abuse had prompted rumors of his death in the past several years, but this time the news is unfortunately true as Weiland was found dead on the band’s tour bus prior to the show.
Many of his fellow musicians have subsequently taken to social media to express grief and condolences, as well as to share memories of the influential singer with the incredibly distinct voice and sometimes slightly confusing, though no less poignant lyrics.
Very sad news, rest in peace #ScottWeiland #toosoon
