According to TMZ, New York rapper ASAP Rocky was the victim of a substantial home invasion last night. The news site is reporting that at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night, armed assailants approached Rocky’s crib in Los Angeles. They knocked on the door, and when a woman answered, they forced their way into the home at gun point. Rocky himself apparently wasn’t there when this all went down.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the robbers grabbed hold of the woman, who is a relative of Rocky’s, and forced her to show them around the home where they took an estimated $1.5 million worth of jewelry and other property. They also tried to make out with a safe that had been tucked away, but apparently left that laying on the sidewalk after jumping into their getaway vehicle. Authorities are currently working under the theory that this wasn’t a random incident, but rather a highly-targeted job.
This latest episode is just another in what feels like a rash of multi-million dollar heists involving big name celebrities. Of course, the first incident that pops to mind is the horrific case of Kim Kardashian who was robbed at gunpoint in her hotel in Paris last year, but you also have to remember Drake has been the victim of two different robberies lately. The first was relatively innocuous. A fan illegally entered his home and helped herself to some beverages. The second was far more consequential after robbers made of with $3 million worth of jewelry from his tour bus.
