Dr. Dre has officially declared Detox dead in favor of a surprise-ish album, Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre, and now we’re finding out it’ll be exclusively available on Apple Music on Thursday, August 6 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. EDT, or three hours prior to its worldwide release. After that point, the album will be available for everyone from iTunes, but it’ll still be a nice window for hip-hop fans to get an early fix — and Apple Music is still free for an initial three-month trial period.
Listen to the premiere of @drdre new album, Compton. Uncensored & exclusively on @AppleMusic, from 6pm – 9pm PDT Thursday August 6th.

It’s probably a safe bet that Compton won’t be available on Spotify, given Dre’s intimate relationship with Apple, but there’s no word yet as to plans for a physical release of the album.
Compton: A Soundtrack is Dre’s first album since 1999’s 2001, but he hasn’t completely stopped making (very good) music in the meantime.
