Hop Along is the best band to come out of Philadelphia since Hall & Oates’ metal group with Allen Iverson. Their first album, Get Disowned, was greeted with stellar reviews, and they’re preparing to release album number two, Painted Shut, which is due out May 5. They have a totally unique sound, lying somewhere between folk and punk, while singer Frances Quinlan’s voice can go from soft to ragged, sometimes in the same verse. Noisey thinks Painted could “end up being the best album of the year,” so give first single “Waitress” a listen. It’s quite good.
