Whether you love or hate the latter half of the Kim K/Taylor Swift dichotomy, it’s still likely you can’t help but tap your foot when “Bad Blood” pops up on Spotify or belt out “So it’s gonna be forever. Or it’s gonna go down in flames…” when “Blank Space” emerges on the radio. In other words, even if you cringe upon hearing about Taylor Swift‘s vehement cat obsession or post anti-Swift memes on Twitter during any of her given celeb feuds, don’t pretend you’ve never listened to at least one of her songs.
Each album in her catalog has proved to be more dynamic than the last, and all have featured singles that seem bred to be chart-topping tunes. Historically, August has been the month for Taylor to tease a new song, only to be followed by a full fledged album release in October. This has been the established pattern for Speak Now, Red and most recently for the iconic and record-breaking sounds of 1989. However, though we’re currently in the swing of this final summer month, don’t expect your next guilty pleasure bop to come out in the next two weeks.
Recognizing the motif of Swift’s musical releases, one zealous Swiftie inquired of the head of Big Machine Records, a.k.a. the 26-year-old pop star’s label, via Twitter if fans could expect more of the same in 2016. Seemingly a man of few words, with little time for playful prose, Borchetta responded with a simple, “Nope.” Though, curiously, he did delete the tweet.
While, of course, we never truly know what will happen in the world of music which, as of late, has proved more dramatic than any of the Real Housewives franchises, it’s not looking promising. So Swifties, feel free to overtly convey your disappointment, and haters, you can just pretend that you don’t care. We’ll get out of the woods of a Swiftless season together.
