Remember the John Cena U.S. Open challenge? Remember how it was here to get the new guys over with the final goal of getting a young talented superstar that mega-bumb he needs to get to the next level? Remember how, after six months of 30-minute matches with Cesaro, Owens, Neville, Stardust, Marty Jannetty and The Z-Man, Cena lost the belt in nine minutes to a 40-year-old guy thanks to a kick to the head? Remember all of that?
Well, we all know that the loss came because Cena is taking some time off. What was originally supposed to be a vacation for essentially the rest of the year to film reality shows and rise above things (also, probably to avoid falling apart because he’s been taking a beating), has turned into a six week break.
According to F4W, Cena is scheduled to come back on December 13 at WWE’s Tables, Ladders And Chairs event in Boston to challenge Del Rio for the United States belt. Because it’s 2011 again and everything is awesome. So what happens next? Does Cena beat Del Rio…again…and we get more U.S. Open challenges, meaning he defended the belt and lost it twice along the way? Or do we get some swerve? Either way, I’m still not super stoked about where this is all going.
