Between Brock Lesnar gracing us with his presence and John Cena letting fans know (more or less) what date he’ll be back, it’s a real banner day for WWE knowing when their biggest names will be around again.
Cena tweeted out the following on Tuesday, basically saying the words “I will be back on Smackdown on the Fourth of July, when WWE rolls into the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.”
Bittersweet day today as I begin another night in Atlanta. Such a funny movie but #SDLive @WWE is so close! 7/4 can't get here fast enough!

Cena, of course, is currently filming The Pact, which is not a movie where Fairuza Balk plays a goth witch, and is in fact a send-up of teen “let’s all lose our virginities together” movies. He’s also working on Daddy’s Home 2, the next season of American Grit, and whatever else it is that John Cena gets up to. One-man shows and stuff. You know; the usual.
July 4th is a pretty big no-brainer of a return date for Cena, as no one in current WWE is more tied to the concept of “AMERICA” more than him. Not even Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle. Hmmmm, a returning American hero looking for his record-breaking 17th world championship? If Jinder Mahal is still champion on Independence Day, he may want to call in sick or something.
