Ernie Johnson continues to be the most likable person in broadcasting. On Tuesday night, the host of TNT’s Inside the NBA was given the Sports Emmy for “Outstanding Studio Personality.” In his acceptance speech, Johnson talked about his wife Cheryl and their adopted children, saying, “Our life is great.”
Then, Johnson switched gears and talked about a competing network, ESPN. It was just two short weeks ago when ESPN aired an E:60 about Ernie Johnson’s life and career.
“But this is a salute to ESPN for reaching out to somebody who works at another network and saying, ‘We’d like to do this,’ and we were blown away by it.

Johnson didn’t stop there. As we noted earlier, he called up Stuart Scott’s daughters and gave his Emmy to them. Scott was also nominated for “Outstanding Studio Personality.” He passed away in January after a long battle with cancer.
“We love Stuart Scott. This is your Emmy.”
The reactions from some of Johnson’s colleagues give you an idea of how much he’s loved and respected.
@TurnerSportsEJ is a legend. Men aren't made any better. What he did tonight…. Bravo, EJ.

Johnson has beaten non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma twice, once in 2003 and a relapse in 2006. He’s truly an amazing and extraordinary human being.
