Believe if or not, this headline is real — and it’s the second time this has happened in Chicago Cubs franchise history. Relief pitcher Neil Ramirez is headed to the disabled list after suffering a left abdominal injury caused by a sneeze. On Monday, Ramirez informed team trainers that something didn’t feel right after he sneezed on Sunday.
“The other night I sneezed, one of those violent ones,” Ramirez said Wednesday. “When I felt that sharpness that’s when I said, ‘what happened?’”
Ramirez spent two months on the DL with a shoulder injury earlier this season.
In 2004, Sammy Sosa was sent there after he strained a ligament in his lower back from sneezing.
