We’ll probably never actually see a mass celebrity fan exodus from the Los Angeles Lakers celebrity “faithful,” at least in regard to them switching Staples Center allegiances to the Clippers, because bad Lakers seasons will always happen far less than good Clippers seasons. Besides, once the Lakers inexplicably land the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft and lock up Andrew Wiggins, their famed courtside seats will have waiting lists longer than Charlie Sheen’s latest pre-nup. But I’m still always surprised that the Clippers don’t have a more prominent bandwagon following these days, and that’s why Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde got my hopes up earlier this week.
Hollywood’s most annoyingly perfect couple sat courtside on Tuesday to watch the San Antonio Spurs beat the Clippers 113-103, but Sudeikis and Wilde barely noticed because, “Who’s my Shmoopy? You’re my Kiki.” This wasn’t a new decision by Sudeikis and Wilde to support the other hometown team, though, because Sudeikis was back at courtside at Staples last night to watch the Lakers have their asses handed to them by the Houston Rockets.
That leads me to three important thoughts:
1) Is Jason Sudeikis and his impossibly perfect charm bad luck for professional sports franchises, seeing as he’s a lifelong Kansas City Royals fan and they always suck doodies? Yes.
2) Should the Clippers be proactive in their quest to establish a more notable and attractive celebrity fan base by offering Sudeikis and Wilde lifetime season tickets in those courtside seats? Yes.
3) Will Sudeikis’s and Wilde’s first movie together be a romcom entitled Kiss Cam – about a magical arena camera that makes two people who have never met fall in love with each other, but only after they can overcome their glaring differences – that I will write for free if they agree to be my best friends? I sure hope so.
