DeMarco Murray left the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent last year, but showed he still respects former teammate Jason Witten. Murray doesn’t know Ezekiel Elliott, a running back from Ohio State who was the Cowboys’ first-round pick this year, but he offered him advice just the same.
That message @DeMarcoMurray gave @EzekielElliott ? Be at @JasonWitten side, everywhere he goes, everything he does. Watch, listen, do same.

That’s nice. Witten is a wily veteran and Elliott could probably learn things from him on and off the field. Murray was Witten’s teammate for four years and they became friends. Witten said the respect was mutual.
“People talk about how precious the relationships of teammates are and the brotherhood and bond,” Witten said. “I appreciate DeMarco’s kind words not because he said it but the relationship we have. We had a short few years together and we maximized it. A lot of great shared sacrifices together. Ultimately he was able to have an offensive MVP year and I was just a small part of it. But for him to think I could influence it, I think that’s why you invest the way you do. That’s what teammates do.”
It’s always nice when someone says something nice about you and then you say something nice about them. I mean, I assume it’s nice. I’ll let you know if that ever happens to me.
