The appropriate reaction when one learns that a new round of knight fights are making their way to YouTube is usually by screaming “knight fights!” at your dog until it’s showtime. That’s how rare and spectacular these hybrid MMA-weapon fights are. Who can deny the impossible-to-resist allure of an army of knights battling it out in a mostly empty arena? No one, that’s who.
Battle of Nations is the pinnacle of this weird sport, and today they hosted a ten-hour event that graced our eyeballs with many blunt shots to a helmeted head. Check out some highlights from a team-based match. Pure chaos:

Basically, Battle of Nations is a tournament in which various teams of “knights” clash in an enclosed pen until one team stands victorious. Limbs aren’t being chopped off (thank god), but there are still heavy swords and axes being used to bash people until they’re forced to take a knee. Like the olden days, competitors can also use martial arts to take down opponents, which will eliminate them from the competition and weaken their team that will be outnumbered by their foes.
It’s all very exciting!

Beyond the team battles, there are also 1 v 1 fights to show off the medieval skills of the combatants. Eastern Europe is representin’ well.

Male 1×1 duels have come to an end.

2 place – Moldova
3 place – USA— Battle of Nations (@battleofnations) April 29, 2017
It’s really hard not to get excited for this. Admittedly, it seems kind of boring at first because you don’t know what to watch since so much is going on, but if you relax your eyes, the whole picture comes at you and you just get it. Like a Magic Eye book.
Utter madness…
