Good ol’ Nate Diaz. Just a regular dude!
Y’see, Pat Healy got Submission of the Night at UFC 159 but had his $65,000 bonus forfeited to Bryan Caraway, the only other guy with a submission victory that night, when Healy tested positive for marijuana. If you’re wondering what part of that makes Bryan Caraway a fag, here’s his manager Mike Kogan to helpfully explain that when Diaz said “fag,” he didn’t mean “homosexual,” he meant “person who is weak and worthless.” Not like when straight people think gay people are weak and worthless and call them fags to deride them.
Like when we’re trying to deride women.
Kogan, however, defended Diaz’s choice of words. He did not advise the fighter to delete the tweet and advised his Twitter followers to look up the meaning of the word “f-g” in the Urban Dictionary.
“Guess what? The word f—-t, at least in Northern California, and where Nate is from, means bitch. It means you’re a little punk. It has nothing to do with homosexuals at all. So when Nate made the comment that he made, he didn’t make it in reference to homosexuals or calling Caraway a homosexual. He just said it was a bitch move.”
“I’m sure some people got offended, and hopefully this article will explain what his intent was. But how people view it is how people view it. I can’t control that. His intent was not to make a derogatory term toward homosexuals. He used the word to refer to a punk or a bitch.” (via MMA Junkie)
We in the business call that The Eminem Defense. “You don’t understand how I intended to use my words. Here, let me explain, without any understanding of how I’m using words.” Maybe he should try using fag like they use it in Delaware, where it means “guy I’ll shoot if you talk to my kids.” Or like it means everywhere else in the country, “alert: the person speaking right now is a f**king yokel.”
brb, gonna spend all day justifying myself via Urban Dictionary, because that’s a thing we can do now
Edit: Also I’m going to learn not to start typing about one Diaz brother and end up writing about the other. Apologies for the temporary brain damage.
