By now you’ve undoubtedly heard that Miami Dolphins wide receiver and shy gentleman Brandon Marshall was stabbed by his wife Friday night. Marshall was kept in the ICU at Broward General Medical Center on Saturday and was eventually released in good condition. You know, except for that whole being stabbed in the stomach thing.
And of course his storied past isn’t helping the cause, as Brandon has a history of relationship troubles, to be kind. So let’s look at what we know first.
Michi Nogami-Marshall, 26, told authorities from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office that she stabbed her husband “out of self-defense,” according to a sheriff’s office arrest report. Police charged her with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. (Via The Sun-Sentinel)
Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that Marshall had defensive wounds on both his hands. (Via Pro Football Talk)
When reached for comment, Ted Ginn said, “That’s nothing, look at these holes in my hands!” Also, I’m betting this is Channing Crowder:
“And this is supposed to surprise me how?” a Dolphins player texted Saturday morning when told of what happened to the Miami wide receiver. (Via The Miami Herald)
An Orlando police officer told me that this really does come as no surprise, since they’ve allegedly been called to Brandon’s Orlando condo on many occasions – “at least 10 times” – because of domestic disturbances. This could obviously just be an exaggeration between two guys shooting the poop, and at no point did he specify how serious the instances were, but it bears noting that this is not a first, second, third, fourth or maybe even 10th time.
As for the Dolphins, team executives are unable to even contact him directly to check on his status or get his side of the story right now because of the lockout, but I assume we’ll hear more details because this is some saucy stuff and we love gossip on the interwebs.
