Tyler Seguin returned to his old stomping ground in Boston on Tuesday night as the Stars took on the Bruins at TD Garden, where plenty of tears were shed in Seguin’s return. Not only did the Bruins’ former first-round pick light up his old team with a three-goal performance, he also managed to spring the water works on a teenage girl celebrating her Sweet Sixteen.
During the pregame warm-ups, Seguin tossed a puck to the girl dressed in his jersey, and she immediately broke down upon catching it. Like, broke all the way down. To the point where one of the girl’s friends was compelled to give her a hug to console her. Meanwhile, the girl’s other friend is still texting her BFFs and has no idea what happened.
Being a very talented and attractive hockey player, Seguin was known for having quite a large collection of female fans during his time in Boston, some of which still root for him even though he plays for Dallas. When I attended a Stars-Bruins game in Boston last season, the teenage girl seated behind me openly wept as soon as he took the ice. It was weird.
Maybe this is that same girl, who knows. What I do know, however, is that she should probably take it down a notch at some point. Sixteen is way too old to be openly bawling over being acknowledged by a hockey player. Then again, she got to meet Seguin after the game and here I am blogging about it, so who should be judging who?
