In an interview with MTV News, Emilia Clarke admits that she was as surprised as everyone else about the death of Jon Snow in the Season 5 finale of Game of Thrones, but notes that she doesn’t know any more about the future than we do. “[The Game of Thrones showrunners] know that I can’t lie very well,” so they haven’t told her. “Seriously, I can honestly say that I have no idea what’s happening.”
That said, though she claims to have no inside knowledge, Clarke says that, if she had to bet, “there’s like a 50/50 chance” of Snow returning. “There’s some very helpful people there who could, like, bring him back to life.”
But if it means that her character is “that much closer to the throne,” then Clarke joked that she’s okay with Jon Snow remaining dead.
Clarke’s opinion on the fate of Jon Snow is the latest addition to mounting evidence pointing toward the return of Kit Harington to the series at some point in the next two seasons, though it’s worth nothing that both Harington and Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre in Game of Thrones, will be busy not filming Game of Thrones this summer, as both have signed on to star in the film Brimstone, whose schedule seems to conflict with that of Game of Thrones.
