It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since Rifftrax got its start in the demise of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Now we’re about to see the return of MST3K and Rifftrax is the elder between the two. But before ushering in the new age of horrible movie viewing in outer space, the entire cast from the original is getting back together for a reunion special.
To celebrate 10 years of Rifftrax, the group from the entire run of Mystery Science Theater is getting back together to riff on a surprise film and celebrate the milestone at a special event in Minneapolis on June 28:
The event will bring together the full set of cast members from the original 10 season run of Mystery Science Theater 3000, including Rifftrax founders Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, who will be joined by Frank Conniff, Trace Beaulieu, Mary Jo Pehl, Bridget Nelson and series creator and original host Joel Hodgson. The group will also be joined by Jonah Ray, host of the upcoming MST3K revival set to launch later this year. The event will begin with the group riffing on educational shorts, followed by a to-be-announced feature film for what RiffTrax is calling a “SUPER RIFF-A-PALOOZA.”

Jonah Ray, everybody! That’s passing the torch, giving folks a taste of the new flavor. If the record breaking Kickstarter wasn’t any indication, Mystery Science Theater is still a pretty beloved comedy gem. And just because you can’t make this reunion in person, doesn’t mean you’ll be left out. It will be simulcast in theaters as part of Fathom Events and tickets will be on sale in April.
