It was only a matter of time before the names and rumors started swirling as to which snarky comedienne or wiseass celebrity would be picked to replace Joan Rivers on E!’s Fashion Police, but this report should be filed under “Least Surprising News of 2014.” According to Access Hollywood, Kathy Griffin is the snarky comedienne that E! has already offered the gig, too, and fans of the celebrity sh*t-talker would probably agree that she’s about as perfect a choice as the network could make. You know, short of just canceling the series as a final homage to the woman who turned crapping all over awards ceremony fashion choices into a modern art.
But before anyone freaks out and starts screaming, “How do you replace a legend?” (or perhaps “Who watches this show anyway?”), Griffin wants everyone to know that she’s not stupid. She knows how big these specific shoes are, and she’s not sure that this is a good idea.
“I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time,” she said.
“I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan’s work,” she told Access. “She brought a fearlessness and a brand of humor into our homes that we really need.”
Adding, “Somebody’s gotta be out there poking fun at the ridiculousness of all of this!” (Via Access Hollywood)
As long as it’s not Kris Jenner, I think everyone comes out a winner. Except, again, maybe people who watch Fashion Police.
