One of the most impressive things about this very good season of Game of Thrones, which unfortunately wraps up on Sunday with “The Winds of Winter,” is how co-showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have fit in nearly every important character who’s appeared on the series, without the episodes feeling overstuffed. Maybe it took Bronn too long to make his season six debut, but when he did, it was great; it’s also been great that we saw the Sand Snakes many episodes ago, and not since. Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully, the Brotherhood Without Banners, Benjen Stark, Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, Walder Frey, Edmure Tully, Rickon Stark — they’ve all played small but key roles after not being on the show for seasons at a time.
The only major missing characters are barely major at all (Illyrio Mopatis, who gave Daenerys her dragon eggs; Hot Pie, who’s presumably busy making hot pies; royal executioner Ilyn Payne), with one exception: Gendry. It’s been three long seasons since Davos freed Robert Baratheon’s bastard son from prison, and sent the blacksmith on his way from Dragonstone to King’s Landing on a boat. Gendry matters in the grand scheme of things, because with Renly, Robert, Stannis, and Shireen dead, he’s the only person in Westeros left with royal Baratheon blood in his veins. If King Tommen were to die — remember what Maggy the Frog said — then Gendry could step forward and make the case that he belongs on the Iron Throne. The King’s Landing economy would crash harder than the European markets, but still.
Where is he, though? No one knows, but everyone wants to.
If #GameofThrones is gonna treat all their returning characters like Rickon, maybe it's best for Gendry to continue rowing round the world

The season finale of GoT will be a full episode of Gendry floating adrift in the narrow sea.

After seeing what happens to the lesser characters, I can see why Gendry still hasn't returned #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/0kpRVwy51T

So, I'm rewatching Game of Thrones from the start, and it's made me realise that I miss Gendry. Hope he comes back and teams up with Arya

There are many things I want to happen in Game of Thrones S6. But mostly, I NEED TO KNOW WHERE GENDRY IS! #only2episodesleft #stillrowing

If they don't bring Gendry back before this series ends I'm gonna cry… #gameofthrones #Gendry #whenwillmyhusbandcomebackfromthewar

My theory: Gendry’s chilling with the Russian from The Sopranos.
Or maybe still rowing.
Still rowin'…#GoT
