Clark Gregg was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But really, all he wound up talking about was what it was like to be a nerd hero and making fun of crappy ’70s TV.
He did the usual discussion, about what it’s like to sign boobs and how he feels about being a budget con costume. But probably the most interesting part for nerds is when he discusses the show’s drastic change in direction last season.
Turns out, it really was what we all suspected; nobody on the show had any idea what was coming and had to jump into a lurching, last minute save in order to keep the show on track and stick with the overall plot of the Marvel universe. It seems not even Brett Dalton knew he was going to be a backstabbing monster until the eleventh hour.
Ultimately, it worked for the show; they salvaged a somewhat lame season and gave it a good back half, as well as a solid start to the second season. Good thing HYDRA struck, huh?
