The way Michael Che’s career is going I fully expect him to be named the lead in a Judd Apatow movie any day now. In just a few short months the comedian has gone from new Daily Show correspondent to new SNL “Weekend Update” co-host. It only seems fitting that last night — days after the SNL announcement — Che get his own full Daily Show segment to help familiarize us all a little bit more with the man who will soon be delivering our fake weekend news.
The above send-up of the pharmaceutical industry and the seemingly legal drug cartel they’ve created has its moments, but doesn’t feel quite as comfortable and self-assured as a Jason Jones or Samantha Bee remotes do. Then again Che is also a bit hamstrung by the topic. Either way it makes for a kind of fascinating days after look for Saturday Night Live fans.
