You can knock off your goofy costumed campaigns, Leftovers enthusiasts: the critically acclaimed drama is returning to HBO for a third and final season.
The Leftovers, a program we’re pretty fond of covering here at Uproxx, was given the green light for one more season of crippling bleakness and everyone agreeing Regina King should be in more things. HBO trumpeted the promise of a final season in a chest puffy press release. Take it away, HBO programming chief Michael Lombardo:
“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome back Damon Lindelof, Tom Perrotta and the extraordinary talent behind ‘The Leftovers’ for its third and final season. This show has proven to be one of the most distinctive HBO series and we are extremely proud of its unrivaled originality, which has resulted in such a passionate following by our HBO viewers. We admire and fully support Damon’s artistic vision and respect his decision to bring the show to its conclusion next season.”
For those of you keeping track at home: This means The Leftovers will wrap up with four fewer seasons to its name than Arli$$. It’s something worth having a drink and a think about.
Season two of The Leftovers came to a close on Sunday and Rachel Handler has got you covered if you’d like some analysis.
