In case you missed it Thursday night, the Internet went absolutely insane for SyFy’s latest original movie, Sharknado, and while ratings weren’t that great, SyFy is not ruling out a sequel (they want Johnny Depp and Damon Lindelof). My guess, however, is that like most SyFy sequels, the stakes will have to be raised. The sequel will have to be something like Sharknado vs. Hurrikiller Whales, a movie with 10 times the beach victim potential.
Much of the success — inasmuch as you could call it that — for SyFy has come in their movie titles. In fact, I’m almost 95 percent certain that the titles come first, and everything else follows. In fact, SyFy’s executive vice president even conceded as much in an interview with Vulture: “If we don’t have a good title, we’re not going to make the movie.”
That seems like excuse enough to be to take a look back at the network’s 20 Best Original movie titles, although I’m not sure any of them are a match for Cagenado.
