We’ve already given you our plea to watch Bob’s Burgers, so might as well talk about that other under-appreciated Sunday night animated show. American Dad! is just, simply put, funny. We admire Community, we love spending time with Parks and Recreation, we wonder how we “didn’t think of that” with Archer, we wish we were Jane and/or Brad with Happy Endings — you don’t over-contextualize anything when you’re watching American Dad!; you just laugh your ass off, especially when Roger’s involved.
He began as a Brian the Dog-like figure, but like the rest of the show, he evolved from an obnoxious “HE’S FUNNY BECAUSE HE’S RANDOM” character to one of the funniest things on TV. (The AV Club recently conducted a must-read interview with showrunners, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman — Seth isn’t involved much at all.) American Dad! returns this Sunday at 9:30 p.m., and you should watch. Thank you.
