KFC is teaching its cooks how to properly make fried chicken. It should probably spend some time training the social media team, too.
Earlier this morning, KFC Australia sent out a hilariously inappropriate tweet to its 20,000-plus followers. It read, “WARNING: #NSFW. Something hot and spicy is coming soon…” with a picture of a woman on a sofa looking longingly at a man’s pixelated you-know-what. That’s hotter than Nashville Hot Chicken, and the tweet quickly went viral, with over 1,000 likes in under an hour. Unfortunately, you can no longer add your own dirty response.
The tweet was quickly deleted.
In a statement sent to Daily Mail Australia, the company said the tweet was intended to genuinely promote a new range of products. “This was a genuine tweet to launch KFC’s new Hot & Spicy chicken products next week. It was not intended to offend and we’ve removed the image.” (Via)
Would have been more effective for launching Jerk Chicken, IMHO. Anyway, the tweet is gone, but the Internet still had some fun at KFC’s expense.
all i’m saying is that it works with a lot of @KFCAustralia ads pic.twitter.com/6H9FLbPzKw

KFC stole the idea from this McDonalds ad where a woman is giving her boyfriend a big mac pic.twitter.com/vc3sVuhTM2

KFC Australia later tweeted, “We are very sorry for our earlier tweet on H&S — we didn’t mean to offend and removed it when we realised we’d made an error in judgment.” No need to apologize. Former Colonel Sanders Norm Macdonald enjoyed it for 15-20 minutes, then all of a sudden he got bored.
