Robert De Niro Gave A Raw, Honest Speech To Departing NYU Grads: ‘You’re F*cked’

Film legend Robert De Niro gave the commencement speech for NYU’s Tisch School of Arts and he didn’t attempt to soften the hard truth for the graduates in attendance. “You’re f*cked” chimed De Niro, introducing the grads to a lifetime of rejection and coping with the stress. “I hear that Valium and Vicodin work,” he says.

It’s a fun but honest speech that students who focus on creative and artistic endeavors need to hear. The “so what?” mentality is truth and it means nothing that you’ve completed a program in school. You haven’t proven yourself and you really do need to keep working. It helps that De Niro is funny throughout, too. If he wasn’t, it’d be a pretty tense and depressing time at graduation. Enough to make you wish you didn’t show and decided to smoke in your car instead.
