Going Green? Looks Like Mark Ruffalo May Hulk-Out For ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

While it’s yet to be officially confirmed by Mark Ruffalo or Marvel, JoBlo is reporting that an “inside source” has confirmed that Ruffalo will be reprising the big green guy, Hulk, in the third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok.

Details are still sketchy as to the exact plot mechanics for this third Thor outing, but what we do know is that the film will have much to do with the God of Thunder’s home, Asgard, being under the threat of an apocalyptic event. We also know that Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif, and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be appearing alongside Chris Hemsworth’s titular superhero. As for what Ruffalo will be doing, who knows?

One of the more entertaining inner conflicts of the Avengers team has been the interactions between Thor and Hulk. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe rages on to Phase Three, we’ve gotten most of the introductory films out of the way, which leaves the MCU sandbox wide open to films which feature not just one hero, but several. We’ve seen that in Captain America: Winter Soldier, and (to a lesser degree) Ant-Man, and now Thor: Ragnarok will supposedly have at least two Avengers members featured.

In the last Avengers film, Thor was on a mission to find out more about the Infinity Stones, which of course will play a part in the next two team-ups, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2. It’s highly possible that Hulk’s appearance in the third Thor will be connected to the Infinity Stones narrative, which would help set up the events for the next two Avengers. So far, Ruffalo has only made three appearances in the Marvel Universe; twice in Avengers films, and one small bit in Iron Man 3. A large part in Ragnarok might even lead to implications of a standalone Hulk film. Never say never.
