Carol Alt Kind Of Sort Of Basically Called Kate Upton Fat

Now that Kate Upton’s run as a cover model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue has come to an end, she’s practically a fossil in the “What have you done for me today?” fashion industry. That means that we’re just days, nay minutes away from entirely forgetting about her, because if she’s not on the cover, then she’s just a nobody. But we shouldn’t let a little thing like irrelevance stop the industry’s legends and icons from coming forward to slam this girl, because it’s important to remember that she’s only famous because she was a Guess? model before gracing the cover of the Swimsuit Issue two times. If she didn’t have those meaningless accolades, we’d be like Kate Who?

If you don’t agree with that, let former supermodel Carol Alt school you on the dope knowledge of the high fashion industry, as she tries her absolute hardest to be as nice as possible and not call Upton fat in a recent interview with Galore magazine.

Galore: “What do you think of supermodel, Kate Upton?”

Carol Alt: I think Kate is a product of great media hype. Without Sports Illustrated, I’m not sure she would’ve made it in the industry as a high fashion model. Because she is more of a large size model. And even if I’ve seen her in person, and I don’t think she’s in any way fat or overweight or anything; she’s just more large-sized than fashion models are. I think Kate is very good at…hmmmm- how do I put it? She’s engaging. She comes to the set prepared to work, in a good mood, engages her client, and she looks at herself as a business. To more expand on that thought, what I’m trying to say is: after she got herself into Sports Illustrated, she wasted no time. She put together a team of people: agents, managers, & publicists that were ready to go, regardless of whether or not she got the cover. They were willing to take the chance. Once she got the cover, she was already in a position to move forward. Of course, the cover was just a fluke because nobody knows who gets the cover. But she looks at herself as a business, and I admire that.” (Via Celebslam)

The inanity of this response isn’t that she’s trying so hard to dance around the idea that Upton as fat, as much as she even offered it in the first place. “Kate Upton is successful and has had an amazing career already.” End of quote. Instead, she’s unintentionally calling Upton fat while trying to explain the difference between the classic waif supermodel and a normal girl like Upton. Does Kate Upton look like Cara Delevingne? No. That’s all Alt has to say to make her point, that Upton and her handlers have taken advantage of her popularity in order to break into a part of the industry that normally prefers women built like flag poles.

Or just say she’s famous because she has a cute face and large breasts. Why the hell does someone like Alt need to beat around the bush and dig unnecessary holes?
