Ronda Rousey destroyed Bethe Correia by downing her in 34 seconds at UFC 190 on Saturday night (or Sunday morning, if we’re bring technical). Rousey’s victory wasn’t her quickest ever, if you can believe that, but it might be among her more personal ones. Correia, as you may recall, previously said she hoped Rousey wouldn’t “kill herself” after the fight. The comment was insensitive enough, but even more so considering Rousey’s father committed suicide.
On Friday, Correia went absolutely nuts in the weigh-in, taunting Rousey by shouting “don’t cry.”
So, after Rousey dropped Correia with a quickness, she naturally fed that trash talk right back in Correia’s direction (via MMAFighting.com):
“I said the exact same thing she was saying to me at weigh-ins,” Rousey said at the post-fight press conference. “You know, she was screaming in my face at weigh-ins. She was saying, ‘Don’t cry.’ So I turned around to her after I knocked her out and I said, ‘Don’t cry.'”
Now that she has dominted Correria in her home country, Rousey says she’s finishing talking about her:
“I consider the matter settled and I’m not going to have to think about her ever again after this day,” Rousey said. “I’m sure she’ll have to think about me plenty. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over and done with.”
Rousey, 12-0, will now turn her crosshairs to whatever woman is brave enough to challenge her.
