Lost in the chaos of the Steelers-Bengals wild card game over the weekend, which was less a football game and more a handful of attempted murders interspersed with some handoffs and passes, was how Jeremy Hill’s fumble was more costly than any 15-yard penalty in the final seconds.

The Bengals needed one first down to win the game following a Vontaze Burfict interception, but Hill fumbled on the very next play and the Steelers went down the field for the winning field goal. Of course, Hill was sad, angry and upset with himself. He was feeling all the feelings you feel after a back-breaking fumble or sitting through the Birdman movie that somehow won Best Picture at the Oscars last year.

Via The Big Lead, Hill was captured on video as the Steelers moved into position for that field goal and it’s, well, sort of sad. Hill is ravaged by guilt and is seen running along the sideline by Inside the NFL cameras.

That’s tough to watch, but it also encapsulates how anyone who drafted Hill in fantasy football felt this season. You check your app, see Hill has 12 carries for 21 yards, and you can’t believe that you put your team in this position through your own careless mistake. You feel helpless and would give anything to travel back in time and avoid the error. You run through the bar screaming, “No!”

And the beauty of fantasy football over the real thing you don’t have to hear Pacman Jones screaming about how you’re faking an injury to gain an advantage. God, football really is the worst.
